Being Neighbourly

Working Together, Keeping it local

At the heart of our charity is a simple but powerful idea: bring together local volunteers to care for those who need a helping hand.

A message from our CEO, Fiona Haywood

At Being Neighbourly, we believe that no one should have to face life alone. We bring local volunteers and neighbours together to provide practical, compassionate support. We are here to help people stay connected, build confidence and remain active within their community.

Being Neighbourly was already taking shape before the Covid-19 pandemic, but when lockdown began in March 2020, it quickly became a vital community response and has grown into a lasting organisation, and today, as a registered charity, we continue to support adults across East Grinstead and the surrounding area.

Our mission is simple: to reduce isolation and loneliness, support mental health, and help our neighbours flourish through kindness, practical support and meaningful community connections.
