Volunteer With Us

Each volunteer receives a warm welcome from our CEO who will meet with you to learn about how you would like to help and to discuss your availability. We have a Safeguarding Officer and all volunteers are DBS checked.

Longer-term, regular befriending could be arranged, or you could be put in touch with our 'Chatter Chat' coffee morning team to provide support, either by staying and chatting, or as a driver, enabling those with more limited mobility to attend. Mileage can be paid.

A WhatsApp group is used to promote time-limited, 'one-off' requests as they are made via our telephone helpline. These requests may be to collect a prescription or to complete a small weekly shop for those housebound or unwell. As a volunteer, you can offer to help with these requests, if you have capacity on the day.

You could also input to events throughout the year for our neighbours, such as a pantomime trip at Christmas or to a local garden centre coffee shop in the summer, or with the delivery of our 'Christmas Smiles' parcels during December.

Do look out for our stand at Town Council and Mid Sussex Voluntary Action events, we are often there and it's a great way to meet the team. In the past, we have attended East Court Live, the East Grinstead & District Lions May Fair and the Love East Grinstead event. In 2023 we hosted the Coronation Tea Party and the Concert on the High Street, and in 2024 we helped organise the town's inaugural Jazz Festival.

We look forward to welcoming you into a role that suits you for as long or short a time as you can give. There's even the opportunity to receive a fabulous Being Neighbourly T-shirt!
