Gift Aid
Gift Aid is one of the simplest ways to make your donation go further—at no extra cost to you. It allows us to claim an extra £0.25 on every pound you donate.
If you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid allows us to claim an extra 25p from the government for every £1 you donate. That means your support has an even bigger impact on people in your community.
Why Gift Aid matters
Every pound we receive helps us support people who are feeling lonely or need a bit of extra help day to day.
With Gift Aid, your donation goes further, helping us to:
-
Reach more people who need support
-
Provide more regular visits, calls, and practical help
-
Continue building a stronger, more connected local community
It’s a simple step that makes a real difference.
How Gift Aid works
If you’re a UK taxpayer, you can add Gift Aid to your donation by confirming that:
-
You are a UK taxpayer
-
You have paid (or will pay) enough Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year to cover the Gift Aid claimed on your donations
We then claim the extra 25% directly from HM Revenue & Customs—at no cost to you.
How to add Gift Aid to your donation
You can choose to add Gift Aid whenever you donate to Being Neighbourly.
-
If you’re donating online, just tick the Gift Aid box
-
If you’re donating in person or by post, you may be asked to complete a simple Gift Aid declaration form
You only need to complete a declaration once, and it can cover all future donations to us.
Important things to know
-
Gift Aid can only be claimed on personal donations (not company donations)
-
You must pay enough tax to cover the amount we claim
-
If your tax situation changes, you should let us know
