Celebrating 5 Years of Being Neighbourly: A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Volunteers and Supporters

Yesterday, we marked a truly special milestone — Being Neighbourly is officially five years old! 🥳
To celebrate, we gathered with our incredible team of volunteers for a heartwarming tea party at Sunnyside Barn. It was a lovely afternoon filled with smiles, stories, and, of course, plenty of cake.
As we raised a cuppa to toast the occasion, we also took a moment to look back on everything we’ve achieved together over the past five years. From humble beginnings during the pandemic — delivering food and prescriptions to those in need — our journey has grown into something truly special.
Together, we’ve launched and nurtured so many community projects, including:
The Oasis Café, providing a warm welcome to Ukrainians arriving in East Grinstead.
Our joyful High Street party to celebrate the King’s Coronation.
Countless memorable events at The Old Dunnings Mill.
Friendly Chatter Chat coffee mornings and fun-filled day trips.
Our very own community magazine, "The Bean".
A heartwarming befriending service to combat loneliness.
The flourishing community allotment.
An odd job service to lend a helping hand where needed.
PAT testing donated items to safely share with the community.
The vibrant East Grinstead Jazz Festival.
A classic British favourite: Fish and Chip Bingo with Chequer Mead.
And our much-loved Senior Citizens’ Party with the East Grinstead Lions Club.
And that’s just to name a few!
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to be working with the Town Mayor on an exciting new initiative: bringing a community rickshaw to East Grinstead. We can't wait to see where this new chapter takes us!
None of this would have been possible without our amazing team. We’re now proud to have 55 dedicated volunteers supporting neighbours across East Grinstead. Every single one of them — along with our fantastic Trustees and hardworking operational committee — has played a vital role in making Being Neighbourly the success it is today.
